ADVANTAGE VALLEY WARRIORS

2024 Season Details To Be Determined

Lacrosse is one of the fast growing youth sports in america.

Emphasizing the ideals of the Positive Coaching Alliance, we aim to teach the fundamentals of the game of lacrosse for girls ages 8 to 18. Technical individual skills are stressed early while tactical and skills are brought along slowly as the girls develop understanding.

Charleston Warriors / Advantage Valley’s Mission

The club was originally started to prepare elementary and middle schoolers for the rigors of high school lacrosse. However, not all area schools offer the sport and many players were left without the joy of playing high school lacrosse.

We typically play a spring league schedule against other West Virginia youth teams. In addition, we will select an event or two to travel and play out-of-state teams so we may experience an expanded view of the sport.

In the fall, we’ll offer opportunities to play regional day tournaments in which we may participate such as the Graveyard Tournament at the Football Hall of Fame Village facilities.

Required Equipment

Through generous donations, we will have a number of sticks and goggles available for girls who want to try before they buy. Many sport stores such as Dick’s Sporting Goods and on-line retailers offer starter packs that include a beginner stick, goggles and either a carry case or backpack for around $80.

Mouthguard

Mouhtguards are available from under $10 to $30+ depending on need.  Mouthguards are required for any active player.

Goggles

Googles are required.  Lacrosse googles do not have glass, but are protective bars to keep a ball from the hitting eyes and nose.

Lacrosse Stick

Each player will need their own stick to play regularly.  Girls and boy’s sticks have different regulations. Sticks can be found locally at Dick’s or many online outlets.

Cleats

Cleats are not required, but suggested. Lacrosse-specific cleats are available, but soccer cleats are perfectly suitable.

Lacrosse is the fastest growing youth sport in the country. It is fun to watch and play!

Combining Lacrosse’s intense action, strategy, finesse and power, it makes for a fun channel for exercise.  Below are a few other traits that make lacrosse so appealing:

Low Cost of Entry

To cover all expenses for the league and uniforms, registration for the season is $140 for middle school players and $120 for elementary-age players.
